The Gold Eagle was produced from 1795 to 1933 with sometimes occasional gaps in production. It was made with four designs: the Liberty Head with Small Eagle, Liberty Head with Large Eagle, Liberty Head with Coronet, and the Indian Head. The Liberty Head coin started being produced in 1795 and had no motto until 1866 when "In God We Trust" was added on. The Indian Head coin started being produced in 1907 when the Liberty Heads were stopped being produced and it had no motto to start with, but it was added in 1908.
