U.S. Saint Gaudens Double Eagle Gold Coins

The Saint Gaudens was the second type of design for the $20 Double Eagle gold coin. There was three designs starting in 1907 and ending in 1933 including: Double Eagle Liberty Standing "St. Gaudens" with Roman Numerals MCMVII, Liberty Standing "St. Gaudens" with Date in Arabic Numerals and No Motto on the Reverse, and last was the Liberty Standing "St. Gaudens" with Motto on Reverse. The 1933 St. Gaudens Double Eagle is considered one of the most valuable if not the most valuable coin because President Franklin D. Roosevelt stopped production of gold coins and made it illegal to own gold. All the 1933 St. Gaudens Double Eagles were destroyed except for a few that were stolen.
